Dr. Matthias Stolmár

Dr. Matthias Stolmár brings extensive experience across both industry and private practice, having worked with several leading law firms before founding his own IP firm in 2001. His practice is grounded in the belief that legal counsel should be service-oriented and tailored to each client’s specific needs.

He advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including prosecution, opposition, litigation, invalidity, and infringement proceedings across a range of technical fields in Germany and Switzerland. His work also spans licensing, antitrust, copyright, R&D agreements, and IP strategy, including freedom-to-operate analyses, M&A, and due diligence.

Matthias has a particular interest in wine law, informed by his hands-on involvement in cultivating his family’s vineyard in Hungary. He is also among a small number of German members of the Wine Law Society.

In addition to his practice, Matthias contributes to the advancement of science and research as Chairman of the Patent Law Group of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) and as an advisor to the Dres. Volker and Elke Münch Foundation.
